Hereford Jailbreak is returning in a modern and fitting way for the times we now live in, with Technobreak 2017 on Sunday 30 July 2017.
Remember when you would be sent on your way with a pound in your pocket to arrive at a given destination. There were no smartphones or Sat-Navs. If you wanted to call for help you found a phone box and dipped into your pound. Violet River who are organising Technobreak 2017 are bringing Jailbreak back and right up to date by embracing technology.
With Technobreak 2017, you are guaranteed that use of modern technology will be involved and you will be checking in and taking part in extra challenges. How far you will have to travel is a secret but it will be a challenge of more than just a few miles.
Anyone over the age of 18 can enter. You will need to get together a team of 4 people, and one back up in case someone can’t make it on the day. If you have more than 4 people wanting to enter, why not register a few teams and have your own mini competition between you.
While the Technobreak 2017 challenge is taking place, there will also be Family Festival taking place at The Secret Garden. This event is FREE entry and runs from 12noon to 10pm. Designed for families to have a great day out and open to everyone. There will be music, food & drink available to purchase, fun & games, big screens to watch the teams progress, music from Like Radio and FREE Wi-Fi available all day.
The original ethos of the Jailbreak was to raise money for charities and Technobreak 2017 will be doing exactly that. Charities being supported are:
Strong Young Minds (SYM)
A Big Lottery funded project designed to improve the mental health & wellbeing of young people in Herefordshire. The SYM Project is for young people (10–24 years) who are disenfranchised, distressed, unemployed, at risk of social isolation, poor achievement & ill health, due to poor mental health and wellbeing.
SYM work with young people to address issues which can have an adverse effect on their mental health & well-being, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, bullying, cyberbullying, relationship breakdown, employability, low self-esteem, body image & loss.
Homestart UK
Across all four nations of the United Kingdom 16,000 volunteers support 30,000 families and 60,000 children to transform their lives.
There are 269 local, independent Home-Starts. At the heart of each Home-Start’s work is home visiting volunteer support.
Families struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need.
Home-Starts across the UK also support families in groups, hold day trips and Christmas parties and help access local services, as well as lots of other support.
Technobreak will also support a community pot which will use one third of the funds raised to be donated to a selection of local causes. Criteria for applications will be available nearer the day and updates can be found here
