Family-Friendly Events
26 October – 3 November: Newton Court Orchard Pumpkin Hunt
Leominster
Over half term and until 5 November, Newton Court would like your help on their orchard pumpkin hunt. There are several pumpkins, squashes, and gourds hidden in the orchard, each with a letter.
Pick up your clue sheet, head to the orchard, write down the letters, and unscramble them to find the mystery word. There’s a prize for all orchard detectives who work out the mystery word.

26 October – 3 November: Spooky Goodrich Castle
Goodrich
Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Goodrich Castle.
Learn the telltale signs of a witch and step into the role of a witch finder. Put suspected witches to the test with hands-on trials and experiments.
Little adventurers will be bewitched by the Halloween Quest, which will challenge them to solve clues as they explore.
26 October – 2 November: Hallowtide Celebrations at Brockhampton
Brockhampton Estate, Nr Bromyard
Visit National Trust property, Brockhampton Estate near Bromyard, and discover the medieval tradition of Hallowtide. Explore the seasonal decorations and take part in the fun activities throughout the week.

26 October: Hereford Halloween Event and Zombie Crawl Parade
Hereford
The annual Hereford Halloween event featuring the Zombie Crawl will take place on Saturday, 26 October. The day’s events and activities will start at 10:30 am and continue until 3:30 pm.

26 October – 3 November: Paranormal Investigator Trail
Croft Castle
This October Half Term, be brave enough to explore the castle and gardens at Croft with their fun paranormal investigator children’s trail. Look for ghosts at the most haunted house in the Midlands. Grab a trail from visitor reception and explore the castle looking for ghoulish inhabitants. Booking not needed.

26 October – 3 November: Broomstick Agility Course

Challenge your friends and family to a broomstick race this October half term. Borrow a broomstick (or take your own!) and try your hand at the agility course on the front lawn. This event is free, but admission charges apply.
26 October – 3 November: Kids at the Caves
Forest of Dean
Visit Clearwell Caves this October Half Term and go pumpkin spotting in the caves! There will also be the Big Pumpkin Count and the chance to win spooky cave prizes! These mystical caverns are the perfect backdrop for family-friendly fun.

26 October – 3 November: Creepy Crawlies at Ludlow Castle
Ludlow
Explore the Creepy Crawly Trail
From 26 October to 3 November, young adventurers can take on a special Creepy Crawly Trail around the castle grounds. Scattered throughout the castle grounds, fun fact boards will introduce you to a variety of fascinating creatures. Each board reveals a unique animal and a letter – can you collect all the letters to spell out the secret word? Complete the trail and pick up your special certificate at the Castle Gift Shop.
The trail is included in your admission ticket!
Up-Close Animal Encounters on Sunday 27 October and Saturday 2 November
For an even wilder experience, visit on Sunday 27 October and Saturday 2 November for a hands-on animal encounter session. Perfect for brave little ones, these sessions allow children to handle real animals. Meet the likes of snakes, spiders, snails, and more in this fun encounter session for all ages. Held in the Beacon Rooms, these sessions will go ahead rain or shine, making them the perfect activity, whatever the weather.
31 October: Narnia Messy Church
Hereford Cathedral
Join the Hereford Cathedral team this October half-term for a day of crafting activities suitable for the whole family and make a selection of seasonal crafts to take home, themed around the Chronicles of Narnia. Free event.
29-30 October: Holiday Club at Oaker Wood
Nr Leominster
The Holiday Club at Oaker Wood is a special one this Autumn as they will be joined by Wye Valley Falconry who will to do a display for the children to see including Birds of Prey flying over their heads, seeing their natural behaviours, aerial agility and hunting techniques. Children will meet a team of trained owls, hawks, falcons and eagles up close for a memorable 1 hour experience.
Running for 7–11’s on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, there will be Halloween themed activities on different days.

Grown-up stuff
12 October: Hereford AppleFest Banquet
Hereford
To close the 2024 Hereford AppleFest, Hereford City Council will host a pome-themed banquet in the historic Town Hall on Saturday, 12 October at 7 pm.
Guests will enjoy a unique, pome-infused menu by Martin Carter, Saxty’s Executive Chef, featuring local ingredients. Each dish will be paired with ciders and perries from top regional producers like Newton Court, Ross on Wye Cider and Perry, Little Pomona, and Oliver’s.
The banquet will be held in the majestic Assembly Hall, known for its ornate ceiling, stained glass, and oak panelling. This special event is expected to book up quickly.
21 October: Leominster Annual Apple Fair
Leominster
Visit the annual apple fair in Leominster where there will be apple displays and identification, with the opportunity to try and/or buy plenty of different varieties of local apples. Also, as part of the event, there will be stalls selling local crafts and a café with local homemade food and cakes.

26 October: The Rocky Horror Show & Dinner
Hereford
It’s time for a night of outrageous fun at the Rocky Horror Show & Dinner at The Green Dragon Hotel – the twisted alternative Halloween celebration. With a live performance of songs acted out from the iconic Rocky Horror Show and a two-course dinner, expect a wonderfully weird show.
