A Canine Welcome!

CANINE AMBASSADORS WELCOME VISITORS IN NEW SCHEME IN ROSS ON WYE.

Ross-on-Wye believes it may be the only small town in Britain to greet visitors and tourists with a group of ambassadors and their pets. The dogs, FIzz, Elli, Bella and Tilly wag their tails in welcome.

“The ambassadors are all volunteers and their dogs love people,”says Caroline Utting, chair of the local tourism association. “They wear distinctive purple tabards and tee-shirts and the dogs wear  purple jackets.”

The ambassadors base themselves outside the historic 16th century Market House and act as tour guides showing people around the medieval streets, vintage shopping trail and riverside, as well as handing out information leaflets about the town and its colourful history.
