Artisan Creations Shop Opens

The Courtyard is delighted to have opened its brand-new Shop, ready for customers to enjoy some ethical Christmas shopping.

The Courtyard Shop was officially opened by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Paul Stevens, who launched it with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Also in attendance were the featured artists, their friends and family, donors and contributors and members of The Courtyard Trust Board.

The Courtyard’s new retail space provides Herefordshire based brands the opportunity to sell their unique gifts, handmade crafts and artisan creations. It is a space to connect local makers to shoppers, creating a unique and memorable shopping experience.

“We can’t believe we’re finally here, the road to opening has certainly been a long one!” says Head of Marketing and Sales, Jessica Prosser, “Like everything, the pandemic put a big kink in the works. We had a successful card shop for quite some time and knew there was opportunity to grow. We wanted to create a shop filled with an array of quality, handmade items from a community of local makers and we’re thrilled that it’s finally happened!”

The Shop features work by a range of artists including self-proclaimed ‘magpie potter’ Jules Avery, 3D illustrator Katy Alston, and wood worker Eleanor Kercher among many others. There is something for everybody including a host of locally made children’s gifts, candles, ceramics, textiles and jewellery.

A customer who attended the launch of the Shop said “I have bought such lovely gifts from The Courtyard Shop today. All locally crafted and responsibly sourced. A real joy!”

There are over forty local makers featured in The Courtyard shop so far. There is an application process, with interested makers asked to sign up via The Courtyard website.

The proceeds from the new venture all go towards supporting The Courtyard Trust (charity no. 1067869) as well as an array of local independent artists.

The Courtyard’s Shop will be open from 10am – 8pm, Monday – Saturday. For more information visit courtyard.org.uk/shop. The new Courtyard Shop has been created as part
