Arts and crafts in Herefordshire

Arts and crafts in Herefordshire – where we hold a natural attraction to those with creative talent, some home-grown, some who gravitated here inspired by the surroundings and bringing their skills with them.

Here’s a little insight into some of the amazing galleries and venues where you’ll find their work and indulge your own passions too.

Old Chapel Gallery in Pembridge is just what you would expect to find; an exciting discovery in an old chapel packed with objets d’art, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, painting, prints and more from only British makers.

Aardvark Books at Brampton Bryan revels in bringing you those old editions that you thought were lost forever, as well as new releases from most genres. It is a pleasure just visiting and having a coffee and cake in this enthralling unlikely rural venue.

Just over the Herefordshire border in south Shropshire, Meadow Arts commissions new works and produces temporary outdoor exhibitions throughout the region and beyond. Following a creative and flexible approach to commissioning and exhibiting art in public spaces and heritage settings, the programmes bring high quality contemporary art to areas where few other facilities exist.

A trip to The Hop Pocket Shopping Village at Bishops Frome will draw you into the huge converted barn and craft centre with everything from crafts to gifts, home items and so much more. The resident Greenstage art gallery presents painting and sculptures from well-known and up and coming artists and holds regular exhibitions.

Fancy a creative break yourself? Combine a break at Herefordshire Holidays cottages with a textile workshop or course at onsite Duckshed felt. You may come home with a new pair of slippers, scarf or even a stool.
