Record numbers for ESL Autumn Tourism Forum
A record 
number of businesses attended the ESL Autumn Tourism Forum this October, including members and non-members keen to hear how ESL is promoting Herefordshire and enjoy interesting information and discussion from the event’s array of speakers.
Hosted at Brooks Country House (formerly Pengethley Manor), near Ross-on-Wye, attendees were welcomed with fresh coffee and tea and an array of delicious homemade biscuits, in the warm Brooks lounge/bar where the cross-section of Accommodation, Food & Drink, Attractions and Activity providers could mingle and network.
Venue owner Carla Brooks opened the Forum with a brief background to their refurbishment and new management of the well-known premises, followed by an update of Herefordshire promotional activity from TeamESL.
The event accommodated a literature swap and the launch of ESL’s Winter in Herefordshire guide; a first for the area, guiding visitors around the county ‘off season’ and highlighting the festive season’s events and venues.

Helping businesses with their ‘people problems’ was local HR expert Sandy Green, who acts as an independent Human Resources provider to small businesses who require support without having their own dedicated in-house department. Her fun quiz highlighted some outdated perceptions on employment legislation and gave some useful advice.
Next we welcomed the team from the Food & Drink Trade Show, who’s 2017 event at the Three Counties Showground is partnered by ESL to support Herefordshire get their products to market. Visitors to the show have free entrance and businesses looking to stock regional produce with local provenance are encouraged to attend.
Entertaining the room with wonderful stories of Herefordshire’s yesteryear was our final speaker, David Vaughan, author of the Little Book of Herefordshire; a fun and educating read into the history, folklore and fascinating facts of the county. Recently published, the book was available to purchase at the Forum and David kindly signed personal copies. What a great Christmas gift. Copies are available on sale here.
