Team ESL always welcomes journalists to experience Herefordshire and then write about our amazing county on their various press and media platforms.
A family holiday in Herefordshire
We recently hosted EU writer Martin Banks, in collaboration with Kynaston Public Relations, who was able to experience a wonderful family week at a whole variety of Herefordshire locations this summer.
Martin is a highly experienced, British-born journalist with over 16 years’ experience of covering the EU and other international bodies based in Brussels/Belgium for several titles. Living with his family in Belgium, he is also a contributor to Brussels Express writing on a wide variety of issues, including travel and eating out.
After 24 hours in Hereford City, at Castle House Hotel, we relocated him and his family to the Riverside Inn at Aymestrey for a night in their new north Herefordshire garden lodges. Knowing that he would have a picturesque drive there, we then directed him across county to Treeopia, for a unique stay in their amazing luxury tree house retreats on the East Herefordshire border. Sunday saw a delicious lunch at nearby newly opened Pensons restaurant and a tour of the Netherwood Estate.
48 hours later we nestled them into Sprig’s Granary, a beautifully converted barn deep in the Golden Valley on a former stud farm, where the family explored the area including some laserclay fun at Battlelands and a relaxed time at Rowlestone Court Farm with their delectable ice cream. Finally, they popped over the border to Monmouthshire for a final night at the award-winning hotel, The Bell at Skenfrith.
Laden with information, and of course our Ultimate Herefordshire guide book, Martin has already written a couple of cracking articles on his stay encouraging European holiday makers to come to the area. Read them here and here
Glowing review of Herefordshire’s glorious gardens
Earlier in the season we facilitated Caroline Mill’s week exploring the county’s stunning and independently owned gardens. Caroline is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and her work has appeared in print and online for The Times, The Telegraph, Skylife Magazine, France Today, Discover Touring, Discover Britain, Practical Motorhome, French Entrée, Camping & Caravanning, Great British Food and Speciality Food, to name a few.
Staying at the lovely Caravanning and Camping Club site in Tarrington, she was able to compose this fabulous 4 page piece for their summer magazine edition, which included The Laskett Gardens, Kentchurch Court, Stockton Bury Gardens, Hampton Court Castle, Hergest Croft, Hereford Cathedral Gardens, Brobury House, Westonbury Mill Water Gardens and Hellens.
