Your leading local destination marketing company, Eat Sleep Live Herefordshire, is well and truly putting the region on the national and international visitor radar at this year’s British Tourism & Travel Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
We will launch our much anticipated new Ultimate Herefordshire guide book for 2018, hailed as the ‘Bible’ for tourists to Herefordshire, at the show, with in excess of 100 pages of places to eat, sleep and enjoy in the county.
The only comprehensive guide of its kind for the county, The Ultimate Herefordshire book guides travellers to the major and hidden destinations to stay, eat out, and enjoy, as well as imbibing the county’s rich history and heritage, location by location.
The two-day industry show is the largest of its kind in the UK, attracting over 3,500 group travel organisers, keen to discover new destinations and inspiration.
The Eat Sleep Live Herefordshire (ESL) stand will be headlined by premier Herefordshire attractions including White Heron Properties and British Cassis, Sir Roy Strong’s Laskett Gardens, Hereford Cathedral, and shopping destination Labels in Ross-on-Wye. It will also promote over 100 ESL tourism Members and is hosted by knowledgeable ESL ambassadors and staff.
Jo Hilditch, of White Heron Drinks and Properties, will stage special talks and tastings of her award-winning British Cassis, linking in with the show’s 2018 theme of Food & Drink Experiences. Competitions and incentives to come to the stand and make a trip to Herefordshire will include winning a signed copy of acclaimed writer and historian Sir Roy Strong’s book, Remaking a Garden, and entry to his world famous Herefordshire labour of love, The Laskett Gardens.
The vibrant Herefordshire showcase will highlight itineraries for food and drink experiences, cultural and creative breaks, as well as group accommodation in the county.
“It is a huge investment to attend this show but it is essential for our Members and Herefordshire to be represented alongside the UK’s other major destinations” enthuses Heidi Chamberlain-Jones, ESL’s Managing Director.
“In the last two years we’ve received a tremendous response from group travel organisers and the media, who have subsequently arranged visits to and coverage of beautiful Herefordshire. As we receive no public funding, we couldn’t do it without the support of these amazing attractions who can see what a difference our activities are making to Herefordshire’s visitor footflow” Heidi explains.
The tourism sector generates £450million annually into Herefordshire’s economy, and ESL Members are reporting significant increases in bed nights and awareness of Herefordshire as a destination.
“In just two-and-a-half years, we’re delighted to be already making such a difference to businesses and the county’s tourism spend. While digital market is growing and we do a lot of online promotion of Herefordshire, you still can’t beat building relationships and engaging people face-to-face.
We like to make Herefordshire real, not just virtual.”
