Absolute Reggae
Absolute Reggae pay tribute to reggae throughout the decades at The Courtyard this August.
Absolute Reggae will have you singing along to famous songs from Bob Marley, Aswad, John Holt, Pato Banton, UB40 and many more. They tour with a 10 piece band, 3-piece horn section and 4 vocalists, celebrating some of the best loved reggae songs since the 70s.
Reggae music began in Jamaica in the 60s; it takes its name from the 1968 single “Do the Reggay” by the Toots and the Maytals. That same year songs from artists such as Larry Marshall, The Beltones and Lee “Scratch” Perry became popular in Kingston and helped establish reggae as a genre in Jamaica. Absolute Reggae is a celebration of the genre which will have you thinking “I didn’t know that was a reggae song.”
Absolute Reggae will be in The Courtyard’s Main House on Friday 25 August at 7:30pm. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk
