Britten Oboe Quartet Concert
Hellens, in collaboration with Espressivo Concerts, is delighted to have engaged the wonderful Britten Oboe Quartet to give a concert in Hellens Great Barn.
The combination of the oboe with a string trio was a creation of Mozart’s genius. Nicholas Daniel (oboe) founded the Britten Oboe Quartet with co-principals of the award-winning Britten Sinfonia; they all bring to this ensemble not only the highest musical standards but also the experience of playing together over many years. resulting in warm, expressive and above all enjoyable playing.
Nicholas Daniel OBE, has long been acknowledged as one of the world’s great woodwind players. He is joined by three distinguished string players, Jacqueline Shave (violin), Clare Finnimore (viola) and Caroline Dearnley (cello). Nicholas came to the public’s attention when, in 1980, he won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. He was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last year for his services to music.
