Done To Death, By Jove!

The 39 Steps’ meets Agatha Christie via Holmes and Watson in Done To Death, By Jove! at The Courtyard this March.

A cast of six bring a comic flurry of suspects and sleuths together to discover whodunnit, and how. Except four of the cast are stuck by the side of the M6 in the broken-down van, and only those two knights of the theatre – Sir Gavin and Sir Nicholas – have managed to get to the venue. But ‘the show must go on’, what could possibly go wrong?

Done To Death, By Jove! is performed by Gavin Robertson and Nicholas Collett. Director, writer, performer and producer Gavin Robertson comes from a physical theatre background (Lecoq, Kemp and Gaulier), producing, creating, directing and performing his own work for national and international touring. He has created a diverse portfolio of productions including Spittoon, The Three Musketeers, The Six-Sided Man, Fantastical Voyage, I Am Who Am I and many others, including Thunderbirds F.A.B. which played in London’s West End.

Nicholas Collett, also a writer, director, performer, and producer trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where he won the Comedy Prize. His theatre work includes the RSC at the Barbican, Bombur in The Hobbit in the West End, Pod Clock in The Borrowers (UK No 1 Tour) and over 40 shows in repertory. Having established a partnership with Gavin, the pair have created five shows together. Nicholas also regularly tours his self-penned Spitfire Solo, Nelson – The Sailors’ Story and Your Bard – an informal audience with Will Shakespeare in the pub.

Featuring comic clichés from the Great British Detective genre, a substitute set, missing costumes and cunning detective work abound, this genre-busting farcical comedy will delight audiences of all ages.

Done To Death, By Jove! will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Tuesday 28 March at 7.45pm. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk.
