Edward Lear’s Dream – The Owl and the Pussycat

This World Book Day, The Courtyard Hereford are hosting Edward Lear’s Dream (The Owl and the Puyssycat) for schools and families.

Sea Legs’ are a Hereford based Puppet Theatre founded in 2001 by Artistic Director Rob Ashman. Performances take place in theatres, schools and at children’s events nationwide.

Edward Lear’s Dream asks audiences to step inside the brilliantly anarchic world of Edward Lear’s beloved nonsense rhymes and limericks. Prepare to embrace the silliness and dive into a sea of words, an absurd alphabet soup of poppycock and gobbledygook.

In this production, Edward Lear, tired from writing his famous Book of Nonsense, drifts off to sleep at his desk, only to embark on a magical journey through fantastical lands. Along the way, he encounters a delightful array of whimsical creatures, including the Quangle Wangle, the Jumblies, the Fissgigious Fish, and the legendary Owl and the Pussycat.

Sea Legs’ production brings these celebrated Lear characters to life through the artistry of tabletop puppets, stage set, and a musical soundtrack. Audiences will be treated to six new songs that complement Lear’s much-celebrated poems and limericks.

The Owl and The Pussycat will be in The Courtyard’s Main House on Thursday 7 March at 9.30am, 11am and 2pm. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk.
