An Evening of Jazz at Aardvark Books
NEW event at Aardvark Books! Friday May 11th, 7.30pm: An Evening of Jazz, with Simon Deeley’s Blue Haze Quartet
Showcasing 11 original compositions by jazz pianist Simon Deeley, the quartet plays in styles ranging from the lively Latin jazz of ‘On a Wing and a Dance’ to the ‘in-the-groove-jazz’ of ‘Soul of the West’ to gentle reflective ballads such as ‘Ballad of the Blue Waters’ on their new CD, “From the Blue Hills”.
Simon says his music is inspired by the Welsh Border country and the blue hills of the Marches, and the quartet line-up features Martha Skilton on saxophone, Charlie Russell on drums, Ian Cooper on bass, and Simon Deeley on piano.
