Fungus Foray & Identification Workshop

Join specialists at Hellens Manor in Much Marcle this October, in the field on an interesting and educational day as you search the grounds at Hellens for interesting specimens and enjoy finding out more about these remarkable organisms.

The day will be split into 2 with a foray in the morning, identifying what the finds, then lunch and an afternoon presentation.

The HFSG (Herefordshire Fungus Survey Group ) is affiliated to the British Mycological Society. Their main purpose is identifying and recording the fungal species in Herefordshire for both the national and county databases. Jo Weightman, Shelly & Mike Stroud are all members of the Herefordshire Fungus Survey Group and will be hosting the workshop at Hellens.

The day will be a fantastic opportunity to work with specialists in this field whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Hellens which you can stay and explore the grounds after the workshop.

Approximate timings:
10:15   Meet at the Haywain, Hellens, next to the car park
10:25   Welcome and introductions
10:30   Foray in groups, each group led by an HFSG leader
12:45   Lunch
13:45   Presentation & discussion of the morning’s finds
15:00   Event ends.

You will need wet weather gear as much of the day will be spent outdoors.

No previous experience necessary.
