Hereford Cathedral Open Gardens
Due to the success of the last Open Gardens event, held in August, Hereford Cathedral are hosting another event this September. Normally during the summer visitors are invited to the Cathedral Gardens to take part in guided tours. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions in place this year the gardens will be open for pre-booked visitors to tour on Saturday 19 September.
Visitors will be able to to explore the Chapter House, Cloister garden, Canon’s and Dean’s garden at their own leisure with a team of volunteer gardeners and guides on hand to answer any questions. Spaces for the Open Gardens will be limited as to ensure that social distancing remains possible for visitors throughout their visit. Following on from the flooding in February which caused devastation to some of the gardens and the lockdown period in which the gardeners weren’t able to access the gardens to tend to them, the team of volunteers have been very hard at work to restore the gardens ready for this summer.
There will be one session at 10 am – 11.30 am
Booking is essential to attend this event.
Accessibility Information: Chapter House & Cloisters Garden are both easily accessible for wheelchairs. Canon’s Garden and the Dean’s Garden have some areas with sloping lawns, gravel paths and a few steps but more accessible routes throughout the gardens can be suggested.
