Hereford Gilbert and Sullivan Society The Sorcerer

Hereford Gilbert & Sullivan Society present: The sorcerer

Hereford Gilbert & Sullivan Society present: The sorcerer at The Courtyard in Hereford.

The show that first brought the famous theatrical duo into the spotlight, W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan’s “The Sorcerer” boasts some of the most robust, emotive and delightful music in any of his operettas. Blue-blooded Baronet’s son Alexis Pointdextre wishes to enlighten the world with his fervent belief that love levels all ranks – and to that end, he engages the services of a mysterious Sorcerer, the enigmatic and weird John Wellington Wells, to mix up a love potion. “Spiking” the tea of his unwitting fellow villagers at his own engagement party, Alexis creates havoc when each person, bewitched, falls in love with the very next person they set eyes on.

Award-winning Hereford Gilbert & Sullivan Society celebrates its 75th Anniversary with a topsy-turvy spectacle replete with fantasy, frivolity, and large quantities of food – all on the vicarage lawn.

Experience the very first of Gilbert & Sullivan’s masterpieces – an opportunity not to be missed!
