Heritage Open Day at Hereford Cathedral
To celebrate this year’s Heritage Open Day, Hereford Cathedral are running special Cloister Tours.
The College Cloisters were built in 1475 as a residence for the Vicars Choral, who sung in cathedral services every day. Today, the Cloisters house both residences for some of the cathedral staff and administrative offices. The tours will last about 20 minutes and will include a chance to view College Hall, Cloister and Canons’ Gardens. Following the tour guests can visit Old Chapel to meet Cathedral Archivist, Elizabeth Semper O’Keefe, who will be sharing some stories and showing some archive material about the historic cloisters and Vicars who lived here.
Hereford Cathedral will also be open for visiting throughout the day but access to some areas may be limited due to weddings taking place.
