Pole Lathe Wood Turning Introductory Workshop
Discover the ancient skill of bodging or pole lathe turning. Working with green wood you will learn how to make a rolling pin, rounders bat or spinning top. Under the expert supervision of Maurice he will help you to work the old shave horse and learn to turn a pole lathe. It’s great fun and was once an essential part of woodland management in places like Brockhampton.
Suitability
Children welcome age 12+
Unfortunately dogs are not welcome at this event.

What to Bring and Wear
Sturdy shoes or boots. Warm clothes and or sun cream.
Accessibility
Turning the pole lathe is quite physical work – participants will pump the pole lathe with their foot whilst carving the wood with their hands.
