Reinvent Your Garden
Reinvent your garden in association with London College of Garden Design.
A look at the basic principles of garden & planting design with tutors Tamsin Westhorpe and Olivia Kirk. Aimed at both keen & new gardeners.
An informative day based in the lovely gardens of Stockton Bury in Herefordshire looking at the basic principles of garden and planting design to give you the confidence to reinvent your own garden space. Your tutors for the day are Chelsea Gold medallist garden designer Olivia Kirk and RHS Chelsea judge and gardener Tamsin Westhorpe. This course is supported by the London College of Design.
The day is aimed at both keen and new gardeners who have come to appreciate how much gardening means to them during the pandemic and would like to learn more. Some knowledge of garden plants would be useful but by no means necessary.
This course will be invaluable to anyone wanting to design their own garden or simply refresh a specific area. We will discuss different ‘problem’ areas – how to deal with long, thin gardens, what to plant in a shady border, techniques for splitting up a large garden or tips and tricks to make the smallest space deliver a large impact. Although this is mainly a day for giving information, please do bring along a specific question you may have or even better let us know what it is before the event, and we will structure it into the day.
You will be part of a small group, no more than 12 with the day based in the garden (weather permitting). We will start with coffee in the café then move to the studio and later the garden to look at different plant combinations and planting styles as well as looking at how different spaces are created, views framed and where the best places are to have a seating area.
A voucher for lunch is included in the price of your ticket so we can all sit down together and talk over lunch. Once the teaching day is finished after lunch you are free to have a wander round the gardens at your own pace.
This design and planting course is the first of 4 courses we will run through the year. These are all stand-alone courses however the first ‘Reinvent your Garden’ will lead onto the following 3 sessions where we will look in closer detail at specific areas of garden and planting design.
Course 2 ‘Creating a sanctuary in an age of anxiety’
Course 3 ‘Growing food and flowers for the table’
Course 4 ‘Gardening for Wildlife’
