Responsible Engineering – Lecture by Dr Peter Broks
With the arrival of technology that can learn and change itself and data sources tracking every detail of human lives, engineering now entails decision-making with complex moral implications and global impact. One response is responsible engineering – an ethical and sustainable approach that considers the broader effects of technological solutions on society, the environment, and future generations.
Dr Peter Broks, Associate Professor of Liberal Studies at NMITE, has worked for 30 years at the interface of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences. The result is a long and winding road to NMiTE that has taken him from the History of Science, through Cultural Studies, and Science Communication, taking in along the way curriculum development, public engagement, and responsible innovation.
