River Tours: The Severn – fishing for tales of the Wye

A charming and informative theatrical journey down the River Severn, illustrated by a beautifully embroidered ribbon map, followed by an invitation to share your tales of the Wye for a future tour.

Take a theatrical journey down the fabled River Severn, from source to sea. Along the way you will encounter rich nature and history, feats of engineering and architecture, ancient legends, floods and – unfortunately – a little bit of sewerage. This piece of documentary storytelling is illustrated by a beautifully embroidered ribbon map stitched by the artist Jo Teague with the help of local textile groups. It is performed with engaging wit and sensitivity by writer and actor Craig Stephens.

River Tours: The Severn is part of a growing library of maps and performances being assembled by the internationally acclaimed theatre company Stan’s Cafe. Next year they aim to add The Wye to this collection. After this performance, the company will invite you to stay, if you wish, and join a discussion about the Wye, inviting you to share your stories to serve as inspiration for a future performance exploring your local river.

There are two shows throughout the day, with child tickets available for under 12’s. Show Times: 1-2.30 pm and 3.30-5pm
