The Big Wild Weekend (Part of 30 Days Wild) with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust
Saturday 16 June
Guided Walk: Birds at Bodenham Lake nature reserve 7am-9am
Join Reserve Officer Trevor Hulme for an early morning stroll to explore the bird life of Bodenham Lake nature reserve.
Venue: Bodenham, Herefordshire, HR1 3JT
Guided Walk: Hampton Meadow nature reserve & Museum Orchard, near Lugwardine village 10am-1pm
A 2.5km circular walk on predominantly flat ground. There will be uneven surfaces on an unpaved public right of way. No climbing of styles is required on this walk.
Meeting Point: Please meet at the entrance gate to Museum Orchard, where Tidnore Lane meets Rhystone Lane, 1km south of Lugwardine (grid reference SO 556 397). Parking is available in the small layby immediately opposite, or within the perimeter of Museum Orchard.
Cost: A suggested donation for parking at Museum Orchard is welcomed.
Dogs: Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, to avoid disturbance to rare ground nesting birds and otter.
Guided Walk: The Doward nature reserves 10am-1pm
A gentle guided walk across several reserves taking in the natural history from flowers to birdsong led by Reserve Warden Ian Draycott.
Meeting Point: Meet at the entrance to White Rocks Nature Reserve, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 6DY. There is a free Forestry Comission car park close by, just beyond the Doward Park campsite.
Guided Walk: The Woolhope Dome 10am-3pm
This all-day ramble will begin at Wessington Wood and Pasture Nature Reserve and will take in Terrace Hall, Siege Wood, Buckenhill, Lea & Paget’s Wood, Common Hill, the Wye Valley Walk, Nupend Wood, Rudge End and Broadmoor Common before ending back at Wessington! The walk will take around 5 hours, including a brunch break and mini breaks. Walkers should bring a packed lunch and water.

Sunday 17 June
Guided Walk: Birches Farm 10am-12pm
A two-hour guided walk around this historic reserve exploring the natural history of the site, in particular its wildflowers.
Venue: Birches Farm Nature Reserve, Nr Kington, Herefordshire, HR5 3EY
Guided Walk: The Parks nature reserve 10am-12pm
Join Conservation Manager, Andrew Nixon, for a stroll around this fantastic nature reserve – particularly good for wildflowers and butterflies at this time of year.
Venue: The Parks Nature Reserve, Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire, HR2 0HL
Guided Walk: Holywell Dingle Nature Reserve 2pm-4pm
A fun walk for families around this magical woodland reserve. There are steep paths so good footwear is required but great terrain for children to scramble about!
Venue: Holywell Dingle Nature Reserve, Nr Eardisley, Herefordshire, HR3 6LR. Parking and a post-walk cup of tea available from Borderwood Farm ( HR3 6LR) close to the reserve.
