The O’er Wrought Heart with Hereford Shakespeare Club

An outdoor, promenade performance of Shakespeare scenes and speeches exploring the message of the Knife Angel.

This is a free to attend event, booking is required please.

Meeting at the Elgar & bicycle statue in Hereford Cathedral Close ( near the end of Church Street ) the promenade performance will begin, moving on to two more locations within easy walking distance. The audience will walk with the performers. Other than pavements the area is flat and suitable for wheelchairs / pushchairs etc.

The distances to be walked are not excessive and suitable for most.

Also known as the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, this magnificent 27ft statue built from 100,000 confiscated knives and blades will come to the city on Monday 14 June and will remain in place outside the West door of Hereford Cathedral until 12 July.
The Knife Angel will be located outside the cathedral and will be free to visit with no need for visitors to book in advance. Relevant precautions, including a one-way system around the Knife Angel and volunteer stewarding teams, will be in place during the day to help welcome and guide visitors.

Prior to lockdown, the Angel toured around the UK and has become a national monument against violence and aggression in all its forms.
