Join Hereford Guild of Guides in celebrating the birthday of one of our greatest composers with a special guided walk of Elgar’s Hereford, hosted by the Guides, followed by Afternoon Tea at the Green Dragon Hotel.
The Walk starts at 2pm at the Elgar Statue in Cathedral Close, lasts 90 minutes and finishes at the Green Dragon Hotel for Tea.
Sir Edward Elgar lived in Hereford between 1904 and 1911, where he composed some of his best-loved works. Follow in his footsteps through the city with a walk illustrated by brief extracts from the music composed during his Hereford years. Explore key locations in the city centre and along the scenic river as our expert guide provides context for his career, from humble origins to becoming one of Britain’s most famous and well-loved composers.
Continue your journey with a light afternoon tea at the stylish Green Dragon Hotel, where Elgar was a frequent patron, and where you will have the opportunity to view documents written in Elgar’s hand.
