wassail Brockhampton

Wassail in the Orchards at Brockhampton

Participants are invited to take part in the age-old tradition of waking up the fruit trees and warding off bad spirits in a guided procession through the orchards. Jenny Pipes Morris will lead the procession, which will feature music and dancing, the burning of the “Apostle Bushes,” and a Wassail Bowl. The procession will conclude at the courtyard, where warming refreshments will be available from the Granary Kiosk, and visitors can enjoy Christmas at the manor house with additional performances by Jenny Pipes Morris.

The event will take place in the orchards during the evening, so visitors are asked to bring a good quality torch, outdoor clothing/footwear, and optionally, some pots and pans to make noise. The procession will follow a 1-mile route along hard-standing paths, which are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

There is no admission fee for this event. However, due to limited car park capacity, visitors need to book a car park space in advance (£3 per car). This parking charge applies to both National Trust members and non-members. Visitors are encouraged to consider how many people will be traveling in their vehicle before booking and to car share whenever possible.
