Watchers of the Skies

Watchers of the Skies

Hereford storyteller Carol Florence Graham is bringing her compelling storytelling theatre show ‘Watchers of the Skies’ to Putley Parish Hall on Friday 20 April.

The show, written and performed by Carol, with music composed by Simon McCorry, was last seen in Herefordshire at Ledbury Poetry Festival in 2015. This will be the first performance of a 2018 tour that will take Carol to venues from Lancashire to Somerset.

Watchers of the Skies tells the true story of Carol’s American grandmother, Edna Leigh, who embarked on a dramatic Atlantic crossing from New York to Liverpool just before the end of World War Two in order to start a new life in England.  This ordinary woman made discoveries about the stars which lay hidden in Homer’s poems and which remained a secret throughout her life.  Upon Edna’s death, Carol’s mother inherited hundreds of her notes and papers, and now her granddaughter can share the fascinating story of her family’s discoveries, spanning generations, continents and thousands of years of poetry and astronomy.

The performance starts at 8pm (doors open 7.30).  Tickets (£8/£6) are available from Ledbury Books and Maps or from www.ticketsource.co.uk/putley-parish-hall
