Berrington was landscape architect Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s final masterpiece. Explore some of his still remaining uninterrupted views and be enchanted by the clever design which surrounds the mansion full circle by following one of our waymarked trails.

Designer’s apprentice trail at Berrington Hall – Saturday 28 May to Sunday 5 June, 10am to 4pm
Imagine you’re ‘Capability’ Brown’s apprentice and you’ve been tasked to assist him in the creation of his final landscape design at Berrington. Follow the outdoor family trail to become Brown’s apprentice and collect a prize at the end.

‘Creating Capability’ at Berrington Hall – Daily until Sunday 6 November, 11am to 4pm
‘Creating Capability’ celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of Berrington’s landscape designer, ‘Capability’ Brown.
See items from Hereford Museum and Resource Centre and the Charles Paget Wade, Snowshill Collection on display in the hall. ‘Creating Capability’ will showcase smocks indigenous to Herefordshire, reflecting aspects of dress worn by the farmers and labourers who helped build and create Berrington 300 years ago.

‘Elegance in the landscape’ at Berrington Hall – Daily until Sunday 6 November, 11am to 4pm
Enjoy costumes from the Charles Paget Wade collection and Hereford Museum and Resource Centre as we display them at Berrington Hall. The costumes reflect the fashions of ‘Capability’ Brown’s era and focus on the people who helped build and shape Berrington three hundred years ago.

‘Gardening with silk’ – The Embroiderers’ Guild at Berrington Hall – Daily from Saturday 19 March to Sunday 6 November, 11am to 4pm
We’re working in partnership with the National Embroiderers’ Guild throughout 2016 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of landscape architect ‘Capability’ Brown. ‘Gardening with silk’ will feature a series of hand crafted textiles in the form of cushions and hangings which are inspired by Brown’s final landscape design at Berrington.
