Half Term Family Fun

If you’re planning ahead for the February half-term and looking for some fantastic activities that the family can do together in Herefordshire then look no further. So here’s our round up of great days out, activities and places to visit which will provide you with lots of memorable moments and plenty of half term family fun this February!

Battlelands & Laserclayz

Battlelands is a family run independent outdoor activity provider located just outside of Ewyas Harold in Herefordshire. Their centre is surrounded by amazing views of the Herefordshire countryside, the Golden Valley and the Black Mountains. Offering you a great range of activities from paintballing, laserclayz and the very popular splatmaster, it’s definitely a day out that the whole family can enjoy. If you haven’t been before, it’s one of those brilliant experiences that will have you returning time and time again. All group sizes can be accommodated with activities for those who are 8 years upwards.

Oakerwood Leisure

Extremely popular with families and groups, Oaker Wood Leisure is an exciting woodland activity site situated between Leominster and Ludlow. Therefore it’s the perfect place to head to this half term if your children are looking for an adventure and want to explore the great outdoors.

HOLIDAY CLUB FOR 7-12 YEARS – TUES 18TH & THURS 20TH FEBRUARY – 9.00 – 3.30PM COST : £24.50

Oaker Wood Leisure has a full day of adventurous activities planned for 7-12 year olds this half term from Zip Wire, Low Rope Assault Course, Pistol shooting, Monkey Climbing, Gladiator, Woodland Krypton, Pizza Making to Quick Jump.

Oakerwood Half Term Activities

TEEN ADVENTURE DAY 11-16 YEARS – WEDNESDAY 19TH FEBRUARY

A full day of activities for teenagers, with a half day of High Ropes challenges followed by an afternoon of Paintball. You can book for just one activity for half a day of fun or book both and stay all day. These activities are for children aged 11-16 who should be in school years 7-11.

HALF DAY HIGH ROPES (9.30 – 12 NOON) – Cost £15.00
Activities will be taken from a selection of their challenging High Ropes Activities including Quick Jump, Tree Trekking Course, Gladiator Challenge, Zip Wire, Monkey Climbing, Crate Stacking and Leap of Faith.

Oakerwood High Ropes

HALF DAY TEEN PAINTBALL (12.45 – 3.30PM) – Cost £15.00 
A paintball session especially for teenagers.

Price includes instruction, safety equipment, and 200 paintballs. Soft drinks will be provided throughout the session. Children may like to bring some pocket money to purchase additional paint during the Paintball sessions. Paint costs £5 per 100 paintballs.

If you would like to book a full day with both of the activities detailed above the cost is £25.00.

Eastnor Pottery

Join the fantastic team at Eastnor Pottery for their special half term activity theme ‘TWIT TWOO!’.

Get the family together, be creative and have fun making and painting your very own clay owl! Your creation will be fired, glazed and ready for collection from the Pottery one month later.

Wye Valley Falconry

Wye Valley Falconry offers enthralling opportunities to fly and handle birds of prey, raptors and owls in the beautiful county of Herefordshire. Experienced handler Luke will tell you all about each bird, their habits and habitat, hunting techniques and heritage. It’s a really great day out for the family where everyone can get up close and personal with these wonderful birds.

HS Activities

Set in a five acre site in the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire, HS Activities is therefore perfectly placed for some half term family fun.

With activities ranging from paintballing, splatmaster, laser tag, archery, air gun shooting and clay shooting to choose from you’ll be sure to have a memorable family day out. A safe and enjoyable environment with plenty of off-road parking and supervision by enthusiastic and energetic marshals. This is always a favourite destination for families, so early booking is recommended.

Waterworks Museum

Want to get creative with the kids this half term? Well, the Waterworks Museum in Hereford has a fantastic junk modelling day planned on the 18th February 2020. Think Blue Peter, with lots of glue, paint, boxes, cartons and cardboard. Suitable for ages 5 – 11 although younger visitors are welcome but only with parental support and supervision. No booking required – just drop in. Open 11.00am – 3.00pm.

Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum

Join the fantastic team at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum for their thrilling Adventure Club on Tuesday 18th February between 10.00 and 12.00. Suitable for children aged 7 to 11 years, unaccompanied by an adult.

Let your children enjoy winter inspired adventures in the woods, including campfire cooking, fire lighting, den building, using tools, games, seasonal crafts and more! They will build a den to shelter from the weather and learn how to use woodcraft tools. Plus how to whittle a butter knife or a fork to toast something on the camp fire.  Other activities include how to make a feeder to take home for the birds, fire lighting, other crafts and playing seasonal games.

Get Crafty this half term at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum on Wednesday 19th February between 1.30 and 3.30. Your child will learn about animals and birds, make their own printed fossil track to take home and have a chance to play animal track bingo. There is also a nature themed sensory/free play area for younger siblings so that the whole family can get involved. No booking required – just pop into the visitor centre on arrival. This activity is suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.
