21 October – 5 November: Newton Court Orchard Pumpkin Hunt
Leominster


Over half term and until 5 November, Newton Court would like your help on their orchard pumpkin hunt. There are a number of pumpkins, squashes and gourds hidden in the orchard, on each of which is a letter.
Pick up your clue sheet from the front desk in the cafe, head to the orchard, write down the letters and unscramble them to find the mystery word. There’s a little prize for all orchard detectives who work out the mystery word.
Around the orchard you’ll find out more about the bugs and beasties that live there, and how rich orchards are in biodiversity.

Pumpkin Pete’s are opening for their 6th year with fantastic family days out this October.
21st/22nd – Burgers – with the Beefy boys.
27th/30th – Animal experience – a fully ‘hands on’ experience with spiders, snakes, owls and some cute meerkats.
31st – Party day – separated into age groups its the perfect, safe place for a Halloween party hosted by Dazzles. Prizes for best costume, dancer, glow sticks and spooky catering. Age 3-5 and 6- 9.

21 October: Leominster Annual Apple Fair

Visit the annual apple fair in Leominster where there will be apple displays and identification, with the opportunity to try and/or buy plenty of different varieties of local apples. Also as part of the event there will be stalls selling local crafts and a cafe with local homemade food and cakes.

27 October: Spooktacular Halloween at Madley Environmental Centre

Deep within the spooky forest a world of eerie enchantment awaits… step right up and prepare for spine-tingling surprises.
Are you brave enough to venture into the deep, dark woods, where you might hear the cackle of old souls? Visit Madley Environmental Study Centre (MESC) for an evening of ghouls, ghosts, fun and hot dogs.

Follow the trail to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories. There’s a frighteningly fun fancy dress competition every day – just come in your scariest outfits to be in with a chance of winning.
With tales of strange apparitions and a phantom horse, Goodrich Castle has long had a reputation for ghostly happenings.
Swoop by and sink your teeth into this Halloween adventure for all the family.
Entry to the event is included in the standard admission ticket price.
If you’re an English Heritage Member, your ticket will be free, but you still need to book in advance.

28 October – 5 November: Monstrous Mushrooms Trail at Brockhampton

Something strange is happening at Brockhampton Estate, causing some of the fungi to grow enormous! Explore the orchards along this trail and see if you can spot any giant fungi, finding out more about some of the fascinating species that grow in the UK, recording them on your trail sheet as you go.
This trail will be running every day of the half term holidays, from 28 October to 5 November. Trail packs cost £3 and include a colouring sheet, coloured pencils, and a prize.

The orchard at Croft Castle is full of apples, ripe for picking, however, there’s something not quite right with some of the fruit…
Follow this fun family trail and discover the really rotten apples lurking around Croft Castle. Learn more about the creatures that visit the orchard and how apples (even the rotten ones!) can help look after local wildlife.

Take part in a spooky half-term trail, finding the clues and helping your frightened riverbank friends figure out what type of monster has been prowling around the garden.

Tuesday 31st October: Halloween Holiday Club will be crammed full of spooky thrills and spills, with a morning of den building, pizza making and pumpkin carving and a scarily fun-filled afternoon with a brand-new game Escape and Invasion!
Escape and Invasion (inspired by Channel 4’s Hunted) sees groups of 7 or 8 children with their helpful Oaker Wood Wizard! (instructor), charging around 175 acres of haunted woodland seeking out hidden items, whilst being timed and ‘hunted’ by our ghastly ghouls and goblins on Quad Bikes! Can the children deceive and achieve!
Thursday 2nd November: Zip Wire, Monkey Climb, Borneo Low Ropes and Pistol Shooting.

Visit the beautiful Berrington Hall this Halloween for a potion making workshop in the walled garden.
You can also take part in the ‘Witch’s kitchen’ trail, where you can learn more about the supposedly mystical properties of some of the herbs grown in the gardens, and find all the missing ingredients for the witch’s potion.
Using herbs from the garden (and a little bit of magic), children can create their very own witches potion to take home with them.

28 October: Halloween party in The Pit

Get your tickets for the frightfully brilliant Fancy Dress party at incredibly atmospheric Clearwell Caves.
Fancy Dress compulsory, the event is held in the ‘Pit’, 100ft underground, in the partly candlelit cavern. Dress warmly and wear flat soled footwear with a good grip.

31 October: After-dark ghost tour at Croft Castle
