Hereford River Carnival

What a great start to The Wye Valley River Festival in Hereford last weekend with Hereford River Carnival. Opened at The Left Bank by Herefordshire’s golden Paralympians Sascha and Nyree Kindred, accompanied by a wonderful steel band and beautiful singing from Blackmarston School children. The Bishop of Hereford, The Mayor and the High Sheriff of Herefordshire also attended along with the big crowd of onlookers.

There were festivities at Bishops Meadow all day including fair rides, stalls, food outlets, live music on the stage and the amazing display of 10, 000 origami fish created over the past few weeks by people and children of Herefordshire. As well as the activities at Bishops Meadow there was lots of activity on King George playing fields, in the City Centre, Castle Green and of course on the River Wye.

The street carnival was full of fun, music and colour and was an absolute joy to witness. This was soon followed by The River procession and again there were children, adults and local businesses all taking part on their hand crafted floats. The river torrent wasn’t helpful as it was quite windy but it didn’t deter the procession going ahead or The fantastic Duck Race organised by Hereford Rotary Club to raise money for charity.

A massive well done from TeamESL to all who took part and put the day together, we can’t wait for the next one!
