Organisers of this year’s Shobdon Food and Flying Festival have secured Great British Bake Off favourite, Val Stones, to demonstrate at this year’s event.
Val won the hearts of viewers across the country in 2016 when she gave a tear-jerking exit speech that was voted the best Bake Off moment of all time: “Whatever I bake, I stir love into it’, she said, and it’s that approach to food and to baking that make her the perfect addition to the show’s line up.
Val said, “I was delighted to be invited to bake at Shobdon. Their ethos of supporting local food producers and raising money for good causes struck a chord with me. I bake because I love it and I’m looking forward to spending time with people who are just as passionate about the food they produce as I am.”
Since leaving the Bake Off tent, Val has taught baking classes, judged cookery competitions, spoken at various foodie events and has even walked along the Great Wall of China for charity. At Christmas, Val starred in the festive edition of Bake Off.
Val added, “I’m always thrilled and humbled to be asked to bake at food festivals, I enjoy sharing my love of baking with people and to offer tips gathered over the years. If anyone would have said I would be baking on a stage in front of hundreds of GBBO fans I would have laughed and said, ‘No way!’ But I do and I love it.”
The Shobdon Food and Flying Festival takes place on the weekend of June 30th/July 1st at Shobdon Airfield. More details at shobdonfoodandflyingfestival.co.uk
