Job Title: Weekend Caretaker at Oaker Wood

Oaker Wood near Kingsland, Leominster are looking for a Weekend Caretaker at their Woodland Activity Site. The position is temporary for the summer season (April – October). The position entails staying on site either for a full weekend (from Friday afternoon to Sunday midday), or for a partial weekend (Friday afternoon to Saturday midday or Saturday 4pm to Sunday Midday) to look after/ be on call for guests staying in the 2 Glamping Villages. Each Glamping Village is rented out exclusively to groups of between 12 and 40 people – generally stag & hen groups, family groups or junior sports tours.

Hereford Museum is full of interesting local history with hands-on elements for all the family including a children’s Victorian kitchen and puppet theatre. The accommodation at Wye Valley Canoes consists of a contemporary ‘posh’ bunkhouse and 5 ensuite rooms, some with river views. The Bunhouse is situated in the Chapel next door to the River Cafe and can sleep groups of up to 14. The Chapel is a bunkhouse for adults, ideal for family and friends get-togethers, work outings, book club get-aways or hen and stag parties. Modern bathrooms, power showers, cotton sheets, a huge woodburning stove, comfy sofas, beautiful tables made by local designers Barnby and Day and a slide to get down to the ground floor! A place to have fun, to relax, unwind and enjoy the company of good friends. Nibbles or supper on arrival, breakfast, packed lunches, lunches and evening meals can all be pre-ordered next door at The River Café. The B&B rooms are simple, modern & warm. Breakfast is an additional cost and can be enjoyed downstairs in the café over looking the river. All rooms are en-suite. Rooms are simply furnished and not a piece of floral wallpaper in sight. There really is no better way to spend the day! The River Café is a licensed cafe-bar-restaurant located across the boatyard with the Wye Valley Canoe Centre next door. It is a relaxed and informal space with tables on the decking overlooking the River Wye. Open from 8.30am, people gather for a coffee, pastry or a bacon sandwich before going out on the river. Ideally situated for those doing the Wye Valley Walk or the Sustran cycle network (route 8 and 42) for those on two wheels. The Craft Gallery at Old Mayors Parlour offers a first-floor space for the use of artists, artisans, and art-related exhibitors; enabling contemporary artists to present 2-D and 3-D work in a 14th Century building. Old Mayor’s Parlour is located at 23 Church Street, the Independent Quarter in Hereford City. The present building was probably laid-out in the early 16th century. On the first floor there is a particularly rare plaster ceiling; a fine example of ornate decorative plaster work incorporating coats of arms and nature inspired subjects. Thus the venue is of interest to residents and visitors to the City who are art buyers and collectors, gallery browsers, history buffs or those just curious to look.
