The Welsh Marches are inspiration and home to countless artists and makers, working in media from paint to porcelain, silk to steel and from wool to wood.
Made in the Marches Gallery in Kington, exhibits art and craft reflecting the diversity of skill in this beautiful region, all made by artists living and working locally. Some take features of the natural world as their subject, others use locally and sustainably sourced materials, but all our exhibitors are bonded by a common appreciation of the natural world and a wish to celebrate it through their work.
Established in April 2017, Made in the Marches Gallery aims to support and promote local art and craft, and to exhibit work by established artists, as well as acting as a springboard for recent BA Graduates and self-trained artisans.
The gallery also hosts demonstrations by artists, usually held on the third Saturday of each month, to coincide with Kington Art and Craft Market; throughout the day a featured artist will demonstrate their craft, and talk about their techniques and inspiration.
As a multi-media venue, the gallery are proud to occasionally host local musicians, in support of local charities. Visit the website & join our mailing list to get details of upcoming demonstrations, workshops and events each season.
The gallery rests during January and February: Opening again in March 2019 with a pop-up exhibition of Slipware curated by Dave Mullin, archaeological potter and winner of hArt Bursary 2018.
