Leominster’s Swan Brewery was set up in 2015 by Jimmy Swan, a brewer of over 25 years’ experience, with the aim to brew classic beer styles exceptionally well. Walenty Pytel N.D.D. is unique among British contemporary artists. His magnificent individual creations in steel or bronze are drawn from nature and truly give the metal warmth and movement. He is commissioned by Royalty, public bodies, corporations and private collectors alike, whilst creating smaller sculptures for his gallery and special exhibitions. His work has an international following and can be found in many parts of the world. Walenty studied at art college for 5 years obtaining the National Diploma of Design. He then spent a year working in a commercial art studio in London. His love for the countryside brought him back to Herefordshire where he set up his own studio and gallery initially working with paper sculpture and then moving onto metal and bronze creating the birds and beasts that surrounded him. Herefordshire Life Through a Lens is bringing the work of local photographer Derek Evans out of the archives and into the community. This three-year Heritage Lottery Funded project will create a series of touring oral history films, pop-up exhibitions and catalogue and digitise up to 5,000 images from the photographic archive. Sprig’s Granary is named after Sprig, the famous 1927 Grand National winner, bred on the former stud where the property is situated at Bacton Green in the Golden Valley area of Herefordshire. The Granary, positioned opposite the famous race horse’s stable, is now a beautiful holiday home – bright, light, spacious, private, and luxuriously comfortable, and a spectacular place to stay. Sleeps 2 to 6, plus an infant. The living room, highlighted in a serene pale blue, takes up most of the ground-floor space, with an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting-area. The Laskett Gardens is uniquely autobiographical The Laskett Gardens is one of the largest private formal gardens to be laid out in England since 1945, the gardens form an ever evolving creation over forty years of the historian, writer and diarist Sir Roy Strong and his late wife, the designer, Julia Trevelyan Oman. Their four acres celebrate an orchestration of surprise and thrilling vistas.
