Front of House Manager

Are you a brilliant Front of House Manager or ambitious senior waiter/waitress with management experience looking to progress your career?

We’re looking for a great personality to take our award-winning Glasshouse restaurant to the next level. Leading a small, dedicated team, you’ll bring to the role bags of enthusiasm, creativity and a can-do attitude.

Full of ideas with serious attention to detail, you’ll share our passion for excellent food and drink, champion our hero local producers and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This is a hands-on role in a busy restaurant serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea to discerning clientele, so you’ll need to be calm under pressure, a great communicator, flexible and a real team player.

Your duties will include:

  • managing a small team of waiting staff to provide excellent service
  • liaising with the Head Chef about ideas for new dishes and concepts
  • helping to ensure correct staffing levels at all times
  • warmly welcoming customers and taking orders
  • being passionate and knowledgeable about the food and drinks we offer, championing our local suppliers
  • serving food and drinks, quickly and efficiently
  • communicating with customers to ensure they are satisfied with their meals

Hours: 30-40 hours a week, 9am-5pm. including occasional Saturdays. We sometimes host events and occasionally operate in the evenings. Start mid-May or earlier.

Part-time Gift Shop Assistant

Are you a sales assistant with experience in the retail sector, looking for a new challenge? We’re on the hunt for a creative, part-time sales assistant for our gift shop, ideally with experience in high-end, high street retailing.

Creative, welcoming and friendly, with bags of style, you’ll make our customers feel instantly at home at Holloways, taking sales, helping and advising shoppers, pricing goods and merchandising.

Your duties will include:

  • Warmly welcoming customers to Holloways
  • Taking sales
  • Advising customers
  • Merchandising

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am-5pm plus one Saturday in four. Start date from April 12.

Intern: Sales and Interior Design Assistant

We’re looking for a creative intern with a keen interest in interior design and customer service to join our sales team on a temporary contract. With a sunny disposition, an eye for style and great attention to detail, you’ll assist our sales staff with showroom and project work. The role will also include some hours as a general assistant in our busy retail shop.

Minimum four to five months, ongoing if required. Would suit gap year student.

Your duties will include:

  • general sales, including order processing, answering customer queries, dealing with suppliers and general enquiries
  • working within our busy sales team, taking shop sales and merchandising
  • assisting the interior design team with showroom and project work for clients

Hours: Four to five days, 9am-5pm. Occasional Saturdays.

Full time waiter/waitress

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and efficient waiter or waitress to join the team in our busy Glasshouse restaurant. With a can-do attitude, you’re a real team player with a genuine love for seasonal food and drink – one that you’ll be able to communicate clearly to our customers.

Reporting to the Front of House manager, you’ll have naturally high standards, be calm under pressure and will share our passion for an exceptional customer experience from ordering to dining. You’ll also be a great salesperson, sharing stories of our hero local producers and recommending dishes and wines, local ales and craft ciders.

Your duties will include:

  • warmly welcoming customers and taking orders
  • serving food and drinks, quickly and efficiently
  • being enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food and drinks we offer, championing our local suppliers
  • communicating with customers to ensure they are satisfied with their meals

Hours: 30-40 flexible hours per week, 9am-5pm. including some Saturdays if required. We sometimes host events and occasionally operate in the evenings.

Calling all students

Looking for a holiday job with a difference? We need enthusiastic, reliable students for part-time work across our restaurant, gift shop, administration, transport and warehouse functions.

Flexibility is key. One minute you might be serving diners in our restaurant, the next you might be taking payments in our gift shop. Or you could join our delivery team, helping our drivers deliver our furniture across the country and keeping our warehouse stocks in check.

It’s a great chance to earn some money for university, learn new skills and add to your CV. Positions available from now until September.

Sous Chef

Passionate about seasonal food with provenance, you’re an experienced chef de partie or similar, full of ideas, who’s ready to take our Glasshouse restaurant to the next level.

With a proven flair for presentation, you’ll have a wealth of restaurant experience under your belt, thrive under pressure and will have exceptional attention to detail when it comes to creating memorable dishes on our breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea menus.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you’ll assist with developing new menus, fine-tuning dishes and setting the standard for our award-winning food operation, helping continue the transition from a cafe attached to our stunning furniture showrooms to a destination restaurant.

Though you’ll of course be ready to step up to the plate in the absence of the Head Chef, you’ll be equally happy to get your hands dirty and muck in with the wider kitchen team in busy periods when the job demands.

Your duties will include:

  • working closely with the Head Chef to develop new dishes and seasonal menus
  • prepping ingredients and preparing and presenting dishes for service, as directed by the Head Chef
  • working closely with the Front of House manager to deliver an exceptional food experience
  • deputising for the Head Chef in his absence

Hours:

30-40 hours per week, 9am-5pm. including Saturdays. We sometimes host events and occasionally operate in the evenings. Start mid-May.
