    Wobage Makers Gallery

    Gallery and Craft Workshops

Fine contemporary craft, handmade at Wobage Farm Craft Workshops.

Wobage Farm, nestled in the South Herefordshire hills, was converted to craft workshops and exhibition space by renowned potters Mick and Sheila Casson in the late 1970s. Today there are eight craftspeople working at Wobage, each with their unique techniques and inspirations.

Pots are fired in hand-built kilns, willow grows at the bottom of the ancient Perry Orchard and timber travels only a few miles from wind-fallen trees to the wood workshops.

A charming independent gallery in rural Herefordshire, run by these Makers:

    • Clair Hodgson ~ gold, silver and semi-precious stone jewellery and watercolour painting
    • Petra Steward ~ wood-fired salt-glazed stoneware pottery
    • Ben Casson ~ local timber furniture and kitchenware
    • Patia Davis ~ slip-decorated earthenware and porcelain pottery
    • Jeremy Steward ~ wood-fired salt-glazed stoneware pottery
    • Lynn Hodgson ~ local timber woodcarving
    • Clyde Hoare ~ Wobage-grown willow weaving
    • Isabelle Proffitt ~ salt-glazed porcelain and stoneware pottery

Open 10am – 5pm from March to Christmas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Wobage has a wonderful history of craft education. Today, ceramics evening classes and summer courses are taught by Patia Davis, Jeremy Steward and Isabelle Proffitt. Individual willow weaving courses are taught by Clyde Hoare.

Every summer, Wobage takes part in lively local arts trails: FarOpen – the Forest and Rivers Open Studios Arts Trail (early July) and h.Art – Herefordshire Art Week (early September). Refreshing drinks and homemade cakes are served under the shade of the courtyard canopy; Makers and visitors chat all things craft!

Wobage also hosts exhibitions by visiting artists in the characterful Threshing Barn – sign up for emails via their website to hear about upcoming events first.

The gallery twinkles during Wobage’s Christmas Exhibition. With new work on the shelves, live music and toasty mince pies are enjoyed by all.
