Operations/Production Manager at Gattertop Drinks Co

What we are looking for:

Enthusiastic operations whizz required to lead production and operations at Gattertop Drinks Co with overall responsibility for the distillery, bottling hall, warehousing, and distribution.

Gattertop Drinks, producers of Damson No 12 and Botanic No 7 are recruiting for an Operations/Production Manager with strong experience in a similar role to lead the production and operations team at the production HQ in Herefordshire.

Who we are:

Gattertop Drinks Cois an ambitious award-winning drinks business that rebranded in the summer of 2021. It produces and sells hand-crafted vodka. Our Botanic No 7 was ranked top vodka in England and in the top 4 in the world in 2021.

The home of Gattertop Drinks Co is the ancient farm of Gattertop in Herefordshire, it was the glut of the delicious damsons and the natural ingredients from the orchards that inspired the creation of the carbon-neutral brand. The hallmark of Gattertop Drinks Co is the careful creation of its distinctive, delicious flavour.

Due to increasing demand and multi-national and international awards, we are scaling up and we’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing team, join our journey and help us drive growth and achieve long-term goals for the business. We have recently signed a distribution agreement with one of the top regional distributors and work with multiple wholesalers in London and have big plans for the future!

Where you fit in:

You would be based at the Farm keeping production of the Damson No 12 smooth to meet company targets with growing demand for our vodkas. You will be running company operations and the production unit; in charge of supply, bottling, warehousing, HMRC
compliance, inventory and working closely with the sales team in London.

You’ll be analysing business performance, implementing new systems, and looking to increase efficiency where possible while managing production and capital costs, along with overall responsibility for multi-site Health and Safety. Reporting to the Yorkshire based Founder and Director, this is a challenging but exciting opportunity. The ideal candidate would be an independent self starter who is ambitious and is prepared to grow and own this area of the business. The individual should be comfortable multitasking, attention to detail and strives to deliver exceptional work.

Core responsibilities:

DISTILLERY & PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT: All distilling and packaging, productivity plus new product development, research and development

  • LOGISTICS & DISTRIBUTION: Off-site warehousing, just-in-time goods to site, direct to consumer 3PL, on-site trade order fulfilment, importing and exporting excise goods and compliance
  • COMPLIANCE: HMRC excise duty (W1/W5, AWTD), waste packaging regulations, carbon accounting
  • QUALITY CONTROL: Overall technical management responsibility, customer quality audits
  • INVENTORY: ownership of monthly stock takes, ownership of bill of materials and cost controls (alongside Accounts), intelligent purchasing – negotiating with suppliers.
  • Health and Safety, Environmental and quality plant engineering, and maintenance.
  • Working with all departments to communicate effectively
  • Tracking budgets, reporting KPIs monthly
  • Ensure that any part time staff are operating efficiently
  • Picking, harvesting and storing ingredients
  • Support in local event management and markets, logistics and sales
  • Local deliveries
  • Involved in local sales and marketing opportunities

Job Specification:

Personal Specification

    • 1+ years of operations management.
    • Consumer goods manufacturing with enthusiasm for the production of spirits.
    • A strong ability to learn new systems including excel.
    • Good communication skills with other remote team members.
    • Timely organisational and planning skills.
    • Attention to detail when packing products for customers.
    • Ability to manage production, filtering and bottling process in a constructive, concise and detailed way.
    • Good planning and forward-thinking skills for managing stock levels.
    • Logical, thorough and detailed record-keeping.
    • Willingness to be flexible with their time in times of high levels of demand.
    • Driving licence essential.

Hours of work 9am – 5pm

Rates of Pay: Starting on 3 days a week at £26,000 pro rata dependent on experience moving to full time as the distribution grows and 3rd product comes online.25 days holiday allowance pro rata plus bank holidays plus extra days around Christmas and New Year and your birthday.
