Join a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt with the National Trust in Herefordshire. Easter is the perfect time of year to discover Berrington Hall, Brockhampton Estate, Croft Castle and The Weir Garden as they all spring to life, with wildlife, natural play, children’s trails and Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts to enjoy over the Easter weekend.
At Berrington Hall, near Leominster, families can imagine they’re a Georgian Duke or Duchess of the garden on a family trail, running daily throughout the holiday. Then from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April, families can follow a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt to receive a delicious chocolate prize at the end. Remember to ‘Mind Your Manners’ on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April as The Mannered Mob recreate children’s pastimes of the Georgian era and then get creative from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 April with Lego builders at Berrington. Recreate your own mini-Berrington, walled garden and ‘LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!’ pavilion out of Lego and Duplo. Don’t forget to dress up in the mansion, run wild in the play area and discover acres of ‘Capability’ Brown landscape on a way-marked walk.
On route to Bromyard, spring has sprung at Brockhampton Estate. Discover how families survived during wartime on a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt around the grounds, running daily from 30 March to 15 April. Pond dipping packs are available to hire during the holiday, so get out and explore Grove pool, which is home to an array of wildlife, from ducks to dragonflies. On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April, learn how lambs are cared for on the estate and even have a go yourself with a Leaping Lambs weekend. The Old Apple Store tea-room is the perfect retreat after a busy day, offering hot food and snacks throughout the holiday.
At Croft Castle, near Leominster, families can relive the magical tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle on a trail around the grounds, running daily throughout the holiday. From Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April, families can follow the same trail on a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, complete with a delicious Cadbury chocolate prize. Then on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April, families can step back in time to the First World War with Children on the Home Front; reconnect with nature and learn how to care for spring wildlife in your own garden, with crafts, traditional games, storytelling and more. Croft’s garden and parkland will be bursting with spring colour this Easter; blow off steam with miles of way-marked walks, run wild in the natural play area and enjoy dressing up and games in the castle.
Hunt for bugs and discover nature at The Weir Garden, near Hereford, on a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April. Follow all the clues to track down the delicious stash of chocolate prizes. Then for the rest of the holiday, families can follow the same springtime bug hunt to discover what tiny beasts are living in the gardens. Little explorers can also tick off their ‘50 things to do’ on 11 April with lots of outdoor activities to get them started. There’s even a natural play area at the bottom of the woodland garden; hop across logs and swing high on the rope swing, before heading to the tea-tent and shop for warming refreshments and unique gifts. Every penny spent helps the National Trust to care for these special places in Herefordshire.
