This month we were so excited to meet the new owners of the Bridge Inn at Kentchurch, in Herefordshire’s beautiful Golden Valley.
Showing us around the extensive modernisation and development of the property, we heard all about their plans to make this a wonderful new place to eat, drink and enjoy.
When Kasia and William Chambers paid family visits to William’s brother, an antique furniture restorer at his workshop on the Kentchurch Estate in Herefordshire’s stunning Golden Valley, they often imagined what it would be like to own the run down pub premises next door that they could see such potential in.
Both hospitality specialists, with William having been a chef around the world for many years and Kasia running many a bar and front of house, they married in the summer of 2018 and, on hearing that the Bridge Inn at Kentchurch was suddenly and incredibly available, they hot-footed it to the UK from Barcelona to realise their dream.
Then began the long arduous task of bringing the neglected property up to their requirements. A new Kitchen, Bar and Dining areas, Beer Garden and Terrace, and plans for exciting new cocktail and feasting menus and events are on the way.
The Bridge Inn will open its doors in early February 2019, easing into the Valentines period for those looking for a secluded romantic date night.
In its wonderful riverside location, the characterful building is designed with plenty of oak, stone and modern rustic charm. Very much off the beaten track, the couple are wisely looking to see where demand will take them to steer their menu and offer. Open and serving 6 days a week (closed only on Mondays) from 12pm until 12midnight (11pm on Sundays) the menu will be casual during the day, with light bites and tapas style dishes for the day tripper and impromptu visitor, stylishly presented and packed with world flavours as well as local produce from the rich farmland of the area.
Kasia’s penchant for cocktails and mocktails is evident and we suspect this will become a regular for locals as well as those ladies who like to lunch in style and take Afternoon Tea with some exciting twists. Don’t worry gentlemen, the bar will be well-stocked with the area’s fantastic alcoholic beverages with no shortage of beers, lagers, spirits and wines, and of course cider.
Evenings will see a more a-la-carte menu evolve with handmade dishes, created seasonally and with flavoursome Mediterranean influences. Conveniently there will be delicious gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan choices too.
Welcoming children, dogs and groups, the Bridge Inn at Kentchurch has a summer of events to look forward to in 2019, with the eventual introduction of a pizza oven for al fresco dining and roasting of mouthwatering meat joints. Live music gigs and events, even the availability to hold your own special occasion.
We’re really looking forward to this exciting new addition to Herefordshire’s growing foodie scene and know you will welcome and support this young enthusiastic couple in their dream venture.
Keep an eye on their Instagram page until their official website is launched.
