The Causeway is the exciting new restaurant and event venue in the newly redeveloped Herefordshire Golf Club clubhouse and it’s swinging well over par both in and out of the golfing world.
Having changed ownership in 2020, the much loved course at Wormsley has spent 2021 undergoing a complete renovation and redesign of its well-known clubhouse to bring Herefordshire a brand new and elegant dining destination and event space in beautiful surroundings.
Unrecognisable inside from its traditional presentation, from the moment you approach you get the feel of a ‘red carpet’ welcome. The foyer has been thoughtfully designed to welcome large parties with an uncluttered entrance and sparkling reception desk. Inside, the clubhouse is now a glamorous, light and airy open plan room, zoned into comfortable low seating areas leading into the bar and dining space.
Decorated in modern statement colours of teal, mustard and blues with velvety furnishings, the vibe is as friendly as the team, led by beaming Front-of-House Kelly Williams, welcoming you to drinks from the well-stocked and locally influenced bar (they’ve obviously been surveying our Sip Drink Tour Herefordshire guide).
The menu is refined, creative and for the discerning palate, thanks to Head Chef Callum and his right hand Josh Hall, both of who’s pedigrees shine through.
Team ESL experienced an Asian theme night on our visit, and the restaurant was fully booked. With dishes a fusion of Indian, Far East and Middle East, we loved how even the tableware matched the theme. So comfortable and well-looked after were we that five hours flew by and it was clear from the other diners that ensuring everyone has a good time is the team’s primary goal.
While enjoying the benefits of its stunning golf course views and countryside location, The Causeway is very much designed to be a stand-alone destination, opening its arms wide to non-golfers and the general public. It also makes for a wonderfully private and picturesque event venue, perfect for Weddings, special occasions, and general private hire.

The Causeway is open on Christmas Day for a fully festive five course feast with all the trimmings, and New Years Eve celebrations with small plates, Prosecco at Midnight and Music.

We’re certainly thrilled to welcome this wonderful new addition to Herefordshire’s dining scene and can see how this will become a year-round favourite with the local visiting population alike.
