NMITE Generous Bursaries Available

NMITE OFFERS PLACES AND CONFIRMS GENEROUS BURSARIES FOR SEPTEMBER 2021 PIONEER COHORT

Applications by end May 2021 eligible for £4,000 bursary

NMITE (New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering) confirms it is making its first offers for September 2021 entry to those who have completed the application process.  The Higher Education provider also shares details of a generous one-off bursary of £4,000 (not means-tested), which is available to successful future learners who apply to become part of its 100-strong Pioneer Cohort before 31 May 2021.

This new bursary has been released thanks to NMITE’s “Pioneer Fund” and follows on from the initial bursary available to those who applied before the end of March which offered payment in full of their first year of tuition and accommodation.

NMITE“We are extremely pleased both with progress on applications and this new bursary offer.  We can see from our applicants that nearly half have not taken the A levels normally required to study engineering, so we know that our message about pursuing a non-traditional route to becoming an engineer is getting through and attracting the right calibre of candidates.  At the same time, this non-restricted bursary means students can choose how to spend the money to best support themselves when they join us,” says James Newby, Chief Operating Officer NMITE.

The fact that NMITE can offer these bursaries is due to the generous support from donors and the efforts of the fundraising team.  NMITE hopes to release further bursaries as its fundraising continues, having established itself as an attractive prospect for funders, securing £25m in philanthropic gifts and in-kind support to-date. Half of NMITE’s staff is now making monthly donations through its regular giving programme, Ignition, with this money going directly to funding student bursaries.

NMITE is open to learners who are approaching engineering education from non-traditional paths. Unlike other engineering institutions, prospective learners are not required to have a Maths or Physics A-level as these will be taught within the curriculum.  Applications are considered on an individual basis to identify the qualities that will create a successful learner. NMITE explains that curiosity, determination, grit and interpersonal skills will be equally important as academic track record.

Those interested in applying before the end of May deadline to be eligible for the £4,000 bursary if offered a place can join NMITE’s next ‘Meet us Online’ event on Saturday, 15th May 2021 at 11am. NMITE currently welcomes direct applications, which means this is over and above the five university choices students may have included in their UCAS applications.
