Capture the magic of evening light; photographers of all levels invited to demonstrate their skills
As it opens its doors after hours on Saturday 14 May, Hereford Cathedral is adding a Photography Competition for people of all ages exploring the building at this unusual time of day. The cathedral team are particularly interested to meet photographers of all ages and skills to share pictures they have captured of the cathedral.
Jess Stallwood, Events Officer, is keen to find new and innovative images of the cathedral: “We would really love to see and use some of the amazing pictures which people get to take on the evening. Bring your camera, phone or tablet for that perfect image! People joining our photography contest on the night will have a chance to win a family entry ticket to the Mappa Mundi, with free cake in the Cathedral Café!”
Photos should be submitted after the event has finished via social media, or by email to events@herefordcathedral.org. The deadline for submissions is Thursday 19 May 2022, and the winner will be announced at 6.30pm on Saturday 21 May 2022 on the cathedral’s social media platforms and website.
The Cathedral will be open from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm for everyone as part of the national and international Cathedrals at Night campaign. As well as photographers, it invites everyone to come in and hear the famous Willis organ in action, join family-friendly art and craft activities in the North Transept, enjoy a special evening tour led by the experienced Cathedral Guides, or just explore the building on their own.
