The Temple Bar Inn Awarded AA Friendliest B&B of the Year

ESL member, The Temple Bar Inn at Ewyas Harold has been awarded AA Friendliest B&B of the Year. There were 20 finalists for this Award from all over the UK.

The judges were impressed with the friendly and welcoming atmosphere as well as the very high quality of the refurbishment undertaken in 2012, the high standard of the 3 en-suite bedrooms, the bar and restaurant, the emphasis on local produce and freshly prepared meals, and the support for the local community.

Philly  (Phillippa Jinman, Head Chef and Manager of the Temple Bar Inn) said after the event ” we couldn’t have achieved this without the commitment and hard work of our small team of staff, who are part of our Temple family.  We’d also like to thank Eviivo, who sponsored the Award, and the AA for their support for our business.”

The Temple Bar Inn has been a member of the AA since 2014.  As part of AA membership they are visited annually, without any prior notice, by an AA Inspector as part of the accreditation scheme. Once every two years a ‘guest’ books for dinner and bed and breakfast, only letting them know he/she is an AA Inspector when checking out.  He/she then also asks to see the Manager/Chef to provide feedback and decide/confirm the Inn’s accreditation for the year.

The Temple Bar’s inspection took place in February this year, when they retained their 4 AA silver stars for accommodation, 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence, and also gained the AA Breakfast Award, “in recognition of a very special, high quality breakfast, with emphasis on freshly prepared local ingredients”

It was a complete surprised when they received an invitation to the AA B&B Awards Ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in London on 30th April 2018. To be announced winner in the Friendliest B&B of the Year category was wonderful for all the team.
