Medieval Living History Camp
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and excitement of the medieval world.
Across three thrilling days, the castle will come alive with bustling encampments, skilled craftsmen, authentic armour displays, and spectacular battle re-enactments that will captivate visitors of all ages.
Each day kicks off at 10am with the dramatic Bills & Bows drill, followed by a lively march through town. Throughout the day, enjoy an exciting programme of events. Fascinating talks on medieval costume and manners, and engaging combat displays. Plus, the ever-popular, fast-paced “War of the Roses in 30 Minutes” – a fun and entertaining highlight for the whole family!
Explore the living history areas, where you can discover traditional crafts and trades of the medieval period. Get up close to the weapons and armour of the age – including the legendary longbow, brought to life by passionate and knowledgeable reenactors.
As part of the displays, there will also be demonstrations involving gunfire to showcase the evolving weaponry of the period.
These can be loud, and visitors who may be sensitive to noise may wish to avoid certain demonstrations.
Timings for these displays will be clearly confirmed in advance.
Best of all, all this incredible entertainment is included with your standard Castle admission.
For those eager to get involved, why not try your hand at archery? For just £4 (6 arrows), you can learn the skills of a medieval archer with the expert Bowmen of Caradoc. A limited number of longbows will also be available for use at £5 — a truly authentic experience not to be missed!
