CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK In light of advice from the government, we have taken the decision to close The Gateway and cancel future screenings with immediate effect. Our priority is the safety of our customers attending, and this is not a decision we have made lightly. We will remain closed and re-open when possible, closely following government guidelines. It is the aim of Arts Alive to ensure that EVERYONE in Shropshire and Herefordshire has the opportunity to engage in a wide range of high-quality Live Events and Films in their local venue. Whilst their core work, brings high quality events to many thousands of people, they are looking at delivering events to those not currently engaging in the arts: Young people Older people in Care homes Others who don’t normally engage in the arts by delivering affordable and engaging high quality cultural events. From those who are geographically isolated to those who have access difficulties, from those who are culturally hungry to those whose sense of community is important and from the very young to the very old, everyone should have the opportunity to engage with great films and live performances in their local venue.

The Courtyard in Hereford is almost all things to all people, providing an astonishing range of arts events, education, social interaction and opportunities. Its programmes cover live theatre, dance, music, cinema, exhibitions, talks, classes, workshops and creative projects and they cater for people of every age and disposition. The Courtyard is a fantastic resource for the people of Herefordshire and beyond, having a 400 seat main theatre, a 120 seat studio theatre (showing smaller scale productions and regular film screenings), rehearsal rooms, a gallery, meeting areas and an award winning café serving a wide range of meals, snacks and drinks. It supports a thriving Youth Theatre as well as an adult participation programme and stages everything from cutting edge drama to pantomime. Cinema showings vary from child-friendly animations and blockbusters to independent films. The Courtyard constantly strives to be as inclusive as possible and were the first arts venue in the UK to become dementia friendly.
