Enjoy a guided tour of Wythall Estate’s Vineyard followed by a tutored wine tasting in the Manor house. South Herefordshire has an excellent grape-growing environment, and the Wythall Estate near Ross-on-Wye provides a wonderful experience to understand more about the wine-making process and of course the growing and harvesting of these special vines. Vineyard tours and tutored wine tastings take place on Saturdays throughout the year. Each tour is a maximum of 25 people and pre‑booking is required. Groups are welcome and group organisers should contact the estate by email to discuss available dates. The Vineyard Tour Arrive at 12.00 noon for a walking tour of the Vineyard with Frank. He will talk about the grape varieties grown at Wythall Estate, the pruning methods used and explain about the vine management from planting through to harvesting. Frank will also share his knowledge of growing, maintaining and harvesting the grape varieties chosen, all of which perfectly suit the English climate and are now producing Wythall’s unique and award‑winning wines. The jewel in the crown of Herefordshire homes Hellens Manor still serves as a residence but is also open to the public, administered by the Pennington-Mellor-Munthe Charity Trust, and hosting tour groups as well as cultural events such as lectures, concerts, school field-trips, and literary discussions, forming a key part of the cultural life of Much Marcle. The inside of the manor is impressive with Tudor style architecture and fine delicacies. The manor was originally occupied by French Monks but a short while after in the year of 1096 the manor was granted to the De Balun family who became witnesses of the signing of the Magna Carta. In 1301 Hellens went to Lords Audley, a nephew James who was companion to the Black Prince rented the manor for a pair of silver spurs. Afterwards he then leased the manor to Walter De Helyon who then later gave his name to the house. Over the following centuries the manor passed through several hands including those of Richard Walwyn who became occupier of Hellens Manor in the late 14th century, in the 15th century the wealthy family made many changes to the house. Barton Court, Colwall, WR13 6HN between Ledbury and Malvern, surrounded by glorious countryside is the perfect location for any corporate or business activity. At the rear of the main house and formed from the outbuildings that surround the 13th century dovecote is a period courtyard complex of the newly refurbished buildings. The Engine Room and Loose Box are now available for hire. The Saw Mill and Dutch Barn will be ready later in the year.
