A Daryl & Co. and Half Moon Co-Production Presents Boxed In, a fully accessible and relaxed show for families at The Courtyard this February.

Daryl & Co., a ground-breaking Disabled-led theatre company, and Half Moon, the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company, are thrilled to announce their exciting collaboration on the production of Boxed In. Aimed at children aged 3 to 6, this heartfelt show delves into the unspoken barriers of attitudes, social etiquette, and behaviour that surround us all.

Boxed In tells the story of someone struggling to comprehend the unwritten rules that govern our lives. In a world where stop means go and up can become down, it’s no wonder confusion arises. The protagonist finds themselves on the outskirts, constantly told they’ve done something wrong without understanding why. The show explores feelings of naughtiness that stem from rules that simply don’t make sense.

This production delves into the heart of the matter, questioning why society sets up invisible barriers that can be difficult to identify and break through. Boxed In aims to bring awareness and understanding to these unspoken boundaries, fostering a sense of empathy and inclusivity.

To ensure accessibility for all, Boxed In is largely non-verbal, allowing a wide range of individuals to enjoy the performance. This includes d/Deaf, hard of hearing, British Sign Language (BSL) users, and non-English speakers. Daryl & Co. and Half Moon have extensive experience in providing Relaxed Performances suitable for Disabled audiences, making this production an inclusive and welcoming experience for all.
