Croft Castle Summer for kids events
Get ready for a summer of adventure for the whole family at National Trust’s Croft Castle! From 19 July to 31 August, families can enjoy a medieval-themed Summer of Play, sponsored by Starling Bank. It’s packed with castle-inspired crafts, bouncy jousting, and imaginative fun. With new activities each week, there’s always something fresh to explore—perfect for curious kids and playful grown-ups alike. Everything is included with normal admission.
Explore themed activity zones on the festival lawn, including a performance stage, sports games with a medieval twist, nature play, and a quiet storytelling space inside the castle. Don’t miss Tournament Tuesdays and Fancy Dress Fridays—perfect for knights, princesses, jesters, and dragons of all ages!
Look out for special one-off events throughout the summer too—from cooking with Kids Kitchen and clay modelling with Jon the Flying Potter, to nature crafts with Phil Evans Basketry, interactive tales from Louby Lou Storytelling, and have-a-go archery with Hereford Bowmen!
Becky Shaw, Visitor Experience and Operations Manager said “We’re so excited to welcome everyone to Croft Castle this summer for a truly magical experience. Our medieval-themed Summer of Play is designed to spark imaginations and bring families together—whether you’re jousting on a bouncy hopper, crafting your own shield, or enjoying a quiet story in the castle. With nature, creativity, and wellbeing at its heart, it’s a space where visitors of all ages can feel at home, have fun, and play their own way.”
With baby-changing facilities, pushchair-friendly paths, sensory items available to borrow, and a family friendly café, it’s a day out designed for everyone.
All activities included with standard admission – Free to National Trust members. For non-members there are lots of options for families including National Trust Explorer Passes for 4, 8 or 14 days as well as one off entry options.
