Join us for a special breakfast as we celebrate the 7th Ledbury Big Breakfast. Try something different for breakfast, enjoy a delicious meal to start the day, or buy something special to take home.
Food shops, cafes, and hotels in and around Ledbury will be offering all kinds of produce to celebrate that most important of meals – breakfast – in this event organised by Ledbury Food Group.
A variety of breakfast treats will be on offer from the lightest breakfast to the heartiest, many featuring the local produce for which Herefordshire is famous. Each venue is asked to put on their own breakfast specials including local produce, as well as their normal fare.
Last year’s range of specials included sausage ciabatta, potato and chorizo hash, cider baked ham, creamy hot porridge, breakfast stacks, scotch pancakes with bacon and cider syrup, eggs Florentine, poached pear pancakes, creamy mushrooms, Welsh rarebit and a butcher’s sausage specially created for the event.
At least nineteen local venues in and around Ledbury are taking part, and many will take bookings.
More information will be available on the Ledbury Food Group website www.ledburyfoodgroup.org from mid-January – including details of when venues will be serving breakfast, what specials they will offer and any booking arrangements.
Ledbury Food Group is an independent group of volunteers from Ledbury and district formed with the following objectives:
- To encourage and support those who grow, produce, sell and purchase local food and drink as a means of developing and sustaining our local economy, environment and community
- To champion Ledbury as a centre for good locally produced food and drink
- To foster learning about local food and drink, the local food web and the benefits of using locally produced products
The Group runs an information website on local food and drink and has in the past year organised the Ledbury Big Breakfast, the Ledbury Celebration food festival (in association with Ledbury Poetry Festival) and other food events to increase awareness of the benefits and value of local food and drink. It has received funding to help its activities from Malvern Hills AONB.
