Out of Nature Sculpture Exhibition

Out of Nature – Reconnection Exhibition 29th August – 13th September 2020

Like so any other things in all our lives over the last few months, our original plans for the relocated Out of Nature exhibition have been re-thought to adapt to the new circumstances.  However, our commitment to host the exhibition later this summer to celebrate the very best artistic work in the beautiful surroundings of the Herefordshire-Worcestershire-Shropshire border remains undimmed.

With so many cultural events cancelled this year, Out of Nature will provide the local community and visitors from further afield with a rare opportunity to view, appreciate and purchase sculpture and other works of art in a beautiful rural environment.  After the challenges and confinement of lockdown we believe, more than ever, in the importance of reconnecting with the natural beauty of landscape and art as a channel for finding solace and inspiration in an unpredictable world.

The Covid-19 crisis has also highlighted the importance of mental and physical well-being.  This exhibition is the key fund-raiser for Cartshed, a Herefordshire and Worcestershire based mental health charity that does amazing work to help rehabilitate and connect with others in an outdoor environment.  With their other fund-raising events cancelled, this is a critical opportunity to help them, help others.

As originally planned, the exhibition will be located in the gardens at Pensons, the only Michelin starred restaurant in the three counties, on the Netherwood Estate between Bromyard and Tenbury Wells.  The current restrictions mean that the focus of the exhibition will be tighter than previously envisaged with fewer, high quality works of art and a small objects gallery.  Sadly, the planned schools art outreach programme and educational lecture series will not be possible due to social distancing, but we see this year as providing a platform to build on for future Out of Nature events and to ensure we can be bigger, better and more inclusive next time.
